CELEBRATES THE APPOINTMENT OF MARIO GARCIA AS
FEDERAL MAGISTRATE JUDGE
South Bend, Indiana (December 9, 2020) – The Indiana Latino Bar Association “ILBA” is proud to acknowledge the appointment of Mario Garcia as a Federal Magistrate Judge to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. Chief Judge Jane Magnus-Stinson announced the appointment of Mr. Garcia, the first person of Hispanic heritage to serve as a Magistrate in the Southern District, on December 4, 2020.
Mr. Garcia graduated from the Indiana University McKinney School of Law in 1999. After law school, he entered private practice at Brattain Minnix Garcia, where he became partner in 2008 and is now a Managing Member. In addition to his extensive courtroom experience and numerous prestigious appointments, Mr. Garcia has provided pro bono services for over a decade and has served as a trustee and vice chairman of the board of directors for La Plaza, Inc., an organization dedicated to serving the Latino community of Central Indiana.
As Chief Judge Magnus-Stinson noted, “[Mr. Garcia] has demonstrated an exemplary commitment to the ideal of equal justice under law and has served his clients and the Court with integrity, a tireless work ethic and compassion. The entire Court family is most excited to welcome him." We at ILBA are equally excited to see Mr. Garcia’s commitment to justice continue as a member of Indiana’s federal judiciary.
